According to CEC code, regular octagon box for ceiling can withstand up to 23kg (50lbs) if they are installed correctly.

If your chandelier is heavier than this, you might need to secure it on solid structures around the area.

Therefore, if you ever purchase your own chandelier, it is advisable that you should buy one weighs less than 23kg or 50lbs.
